The North Shore is truly an outdoor paradise

Mild weather year-round and the world’s
most beautiful beaches and mountains.

The North Shore region includes most of the open space and agriculture lands on Oahu. This area includes from West to East:

  • Kaena Point State Park, most westerly point of the North Shore. A nature reserve and nesting ground of Albatrosses and  Hawaiian monk seals.
  • Mokuleia, remote area with empty beaches & Dillingham Airfield.
  • Waialua Town, historic plantation town and home of the Sugar Mill.
  • Historic Haleiwa Town, famous rainbow bridge, great restaurants, shops and beaches.
  • Kawailoa, great surf and popular beaches.
  • Sunset Beach, best waves in the world, beautiful beaches and postcard sunsets.
  • Turtle Bay, Turtle Bay Resort with pristine beaches, world class golfing and dining.
  • Kahuku, world famous shrimp trucks and  Kahuku Sugar Mill.
  • Laie, Polynesian Cultural Center, BYU and the only movie theater on the North Shore.

The North Shore offers two very distinct seasons:

  • Summer time offers long days of sunshine, with calm ocean waters.  It’s a great time to dive, snorkel, paddle, beach comb, etc.  During the summer months the North Shore hosts several paddleboard races, an open water swimming series, triathlons, the Haleiwa Arts festival, etc
  • Winter time offers the best waves in the world, whale watching, waterfalls, etc. During wintertime the North Shore hosts the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, the most prestigious surf series in the world.
  • Spring and Fall are transition seasons and can offer both winter and summer features. Some people consider these their favorite times to visit.
